When, VAN not now? Through Carinthia with the VW California

There are moments you look forward to for a long time. For me, that was the day I picked up the keys to my VW California from myvanture. From now on, it's all about starting the camper, packing up my favorite people, and discovering Carinthia from a whole new perspective. My two dogs, my boyfriend, and his daughter are coming along – the perfect crew for a summer full of small adventures.

And the best part?

We have no fixed plan. Just a direction. We're following the different routes of the Alpe-Adria Roadtrip and seeing where we can find Carinthia's most beautiful spots.

I've traveled through Carinthia many times before. But with a camper, the way you travel changes completely. Suddenly, it's not just the destination that matters, but everything in between:

The first coffee with a view of a lake.
A spontaneous stop at a local producer.
A campsite where you only planned to stay one night – and then end up staying longer.

This freedom is exactly what makes vanlife so appealing to me.

Why a camper is perfect for Carinthia?

Carinthia is made for road trips: short distances, diverse landscapes, and countless opportunities to stop spontaneously. Wake up in the mountains in the morning, relax by a lake at lunchtime, and perhaps end the evening with a Mediterranean flair.

The Alpe-Adria Roadtrip provides the perfect inspiration for this.

The individual stages connect well-known highlights with many places throughout Carinthia and also in neighboring Friuli, all the way to Trieste, which you probably would never have discovered otherwise.

And it's precisely this mix that I want to experience in the coming weeks.

My temporary home

The VW California from myvanture is much more than just a vehicle for this trip.

It's my mobile home. Here we have breakfast, plan, laugh, and sometimes just enjoy the view.

It's especially nice that I'm not experiencing this journey alone. My two dogs are always with me. And when everyone's schedule aligns, my boyfriend and his daughter and I enjoy those moments that you can't plan – and which ultimately become the most beautiful memories.
