Traveling from Austria to Switzerland

Your journey begins at our Reutte location. There, you can pick up your VW bus and get a thorough introduction. Once our team has answered all your technical questions, you can load your luggage into the campervan and set off on your Swiss adventure! First stop: the Rhine Falls.

1. Stop: The Rhine Falls

The Rhine Falls is one of the largest waterfalls in Europe. It's located just a few kilometers from Lake Constance and is one of the biggest attractions in the area. You can view it from several platforms, and another great spot is Wörth Castle, situated on an island.

If a boat trip sounds too tame, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy: a climbing park, Rhine Falls illuminations, a museum, and more. It's a fantastic experience for the whole family!

The Adventure Park Rheinfall, the largest rope park in the country by area, is a wonderful destination for both thrill-seekers and those who prefer a more relaxed pace. You can test your agility on over 170 stations. From the rope park, you'll enjoy a fantastic view of the Rhine Falls.

2. Stop: Kunsthaus Zürich

The Kunsthaus is a must-see for art lovers visiting Zurich. Its modern Swiss collection features many famous names like Picasso and Chagall, to name just a few! The Kunsthaus not only boasts one of the largest Munch collections outside Norway but also prominent representatives of Expressionism.

It's a place of creativity and community. The on-site kitchen and café serve delicious food, coffee drinks, and tasty snacks. We recommend checking out the workshops or tours they organize for children.

3. Stop: Lake Zurich

Around Lake Zurich, athletes, foodies, and adventurers will find plenty to explore. Whether it's water activities, relaxing on the green lakeside, local cuisine, family fun, or unique festivals with lake views, this region around Lake Zurich captivates young and old alike.

Travel to Switzerland: Summer Activities

It's time to get your swimsuits out. Early in the year, the water might still be a bit chilly, but by May, it's usually warm enough for sunbathing. All outdoor pools in the city of Zurich open in May. In summer, you can have a lot of fun on Lake Zurich. You can swim, boat, stand-up paddleboard, windsurf, or water ski.

Get inspired for your next hike or bike tour near Zurich.

Travel to Switzerland: Winter Activities

If you love winter, Zurich is the place for you. There are many ski resorts nearby. In the city, a wealth of cultural and culinary delights awaits you. Ski resorts near a city? Yes, it's possible! Here are 10 ski resorts.

4. Stop: Mount Pilatus

Mount Pilatus lies in the heart of Central Switzerland, offering a mountain experience for nature lovers close to the city. It's a mountain for families, hikers, adventurers, foodies, and those seeking relaxation.

From Alpnachstad, the world's steepest cogwheel railway, with a maximum gradient of 48 percent, winds through forested hills and meadows. Kriens is connected to Pilatus Kulm by a gondola and aerial cableway on the north side.

Zoom around steep curves, through dragon holes, and over jumps. At 1350 meters, the Fräkigaudi on Fräkmüntegg is by far the longest summer toboggan run in Switzerland (and probably one of the most beautiful). The spectacular ride starts right near a nearby mountain station, which you can reach in just a few minutes.

You'll find the PILU-Land children's paradise, guided hikes, the Golden Round Trip, a rope park, or a scavenger hunt here: Current Activities

5. Stop: Bernaqua Water Park

Bernaqua's leisure activities include pools, spas, and wine tastings. Younger visitors will love the water slides and pirate ship. The wellness area features a sauna with a Kneipp facility, where you can enjoy relaxing treatments like aromatherapy oils and Thai massages.

6. Stop: Chillon Castle

Chillon Castle stands majestically on a rock at the edge of Lake Geneva and is Switzerland's most famous historical monument. For almost four centuries, it served as the residence of the Counts of Savoy and a lucrative customs station.

The water castle can be explored in various ways, such as individually or in groups. The audio guide and short films provide visitors with even more information about the castle's thousand-year history.

Café Byron offers visitors a culinary break throughout the day with its magnificent bay windows.

7. Stop: Matterhorn

Have you only seen Switzerland's iconic Matterhorn on postcards until now? If you're traveling to Switzerland, you absolutely must see the Matterhorn!

In good weather, a variety of activities are available, including various attractions in the Matterhorn basin. The Gornergrat is a fantastic excursion destination: at over three thousand meters, there's a viewing platform with an unforgettable panorama of the Matterhorn and the surrounding mountains.

The Matterhorn Glacier Paradise is Europe's highest ski resort and is open year-round. Even in bad weather, you won't get bored. The Matterhorn Museum showcases Zermatt's transformation from a mountain village to an alpine holiday resort and contains numerous photos and information about the first ascent of the Matterhorn.

8. Stop: Beverin Nature Park

Beverin Nature Park is famous for its deep gorges, unspoiled villages, and the ibex, called Capricorns in Romansh. These magnificent animals majestically inhabit the rock faces around Piz Beverin (2998 m).

Hike on the Glaspass

On the Glaspass trail, you'll learn a lot about the history of Heinzenberg and its inhabitants. High up on the Glaser Grat, after a steep ascent, spectacular views of Piz Beverin and absolute silence await you.

Hike through the Viamala Gorge

The Viamala Gorge gave its name to the entire region around Piz Beverin. The history of the old transport route dates back to Roman times and is truly spectacular.

If you want to see more and don't mind a challenging hike: A moderately difficult but rewarding tour leads from Thusis to Zillis, past the visitor center and over spectacular suspension bridges.

Camping Andeer

This campsite is ideal for athletes and dog owners. In winter, there's a ski lift and bike rental nearby. Washing machines and dryers are available for laundry. A thermal bath is just a few minutes from the pitch, where you can relax and have fun. Despite its popularity as a dog-friendly campsite, it doesn't have a dog shower or a dog run. Cooking facilities and unfortunately campfires are not allowed.

Camping Carrera

This idyllic campsite features water hookups and wastewater drains. There are also three fire pits on the campsite where you can gather around a campfire and socialize. Campers can use an on-site washing machine and dishwasher. Some see it as a problem, others as an opportunity: there's no internet reception.

TCS Camping Disentis

The campsite is a bit outside the village, but it boasts a natural swimming lake and a large water playground. Are you looking for a family-friendly, action-packed children's paradise? Then this is the place for you. Gold panning, cycling, or mountain hiking are just some of the activities you can do at or near the campsite.
