5 Reasons for a Trip to the Alps
Breathtaking Scenery
Stunning landscapes as far as the eye can see! The area around Leogang, Saalbach, and Fieberbrunn is strongly defined by its mountain panoramas – like the Leogang Mountains.
Diverse Sports Activities
Salzburg attracts many sports enthusiasts, regardless of the season. You'll find numerous via ferratas, road cycling routes, and ski tours here. Saalbach, Leogang, and Fieberbrunn are connected by mountain lifts. This means you can hit the slopes in one place in winter and tear up the mountain bike trails in summer.
Wellness & Relaxation
Salzburg's magnificent mountains, gentle slopes, and wide valleys offer a unique opportunity to connect with nature using all your senses. There are numerous wellness and spa facilities that add the perfect touch to a relaxing vacation. Take the opportunity to unwind from everyday stress.
Culinary Delights & Tradition
Enjoyment is highly valued in Salzburg. From Mozartkugeln to traditional inns, from heritage businesses to farm shops – Salzburg is best experienced through its shopping and dining! Gourmets, sweet tooths, and athletes after a demanding day will all find something to savor.
Family-Friendly
A variety of excursion destinations, hikes, family ski resorts, and adventure parks are worth visiting for both adults and children. In summer, family-friendly hikes and short bike tours are recommended. Are your kids not quite confident on a mountain bike yet? At Bikepark Leogang, you'll find a practice course, pump tracks, and top-trained instructors!
Itinerary: A Trip to the Alps
- Klagenfurt am Wörthersee
- Heiligenblut
- Kitzbühel
- Fieberbrunn
- Leogang
- Saalbach
- Zell am See
Klagenfurt am Wörthersee
We chose the route from Klagenfurt am Wörthersee via Heiligenblut to avoid crossing the German border and thus potential traffic jams. Please check for current conditions before choosing this route. The Felbertauern Tunnel, especially in winter, may be closed.
Heiligenblut
To make the journey to Salzburg feel less long, you can make a stop in Heiligenblut. Here too, you'll find many hiking trails, cycling routes, and in winter, a first-class ski resort with views of the Grossglockner. Our journey continued from Heiligenblut through the Felbertauern Tunnel to Salzburg. After that, we opted for the Tyrolean side and drove via Kitzbühel. If you don't have much time for your vacation, you can also drive from Salzburg via Zell am See to Saalbach instead of through Tyrol.
Kitzbühel
Griaß enk! A quick stop in Tyrol before heading to Fieberbrunn. We wanted to start our Alpine trip with idyllic hikes around Kitzbühel and indulge in the wellness oasis at the campsite by Schwarzsee. Whether in the height of summer or the depths of winter, Kitzbühel is in the heart of the Alps and is an excellent destination for sports and relaxation all year round.
A Trip to the Alps: Salzburg
What makes this place special is its diversity, variety, and vastness! From Leogang to Saalbach to Fieberbrunn: 408 kilometers of slopes with fantastic deep powder runs and numerous huts await you, where you can feast on culinary specialties. Our highlight wasn't just Pinzgauer Kasnocken, but also the warm hospitality of the alpine pastures and huts.
Even in summer, the gondolas don't stop: The Epic Bikepark Leogang is one of the best bike parks in Europe and attracts everyone from beginners to pros. Over 80 kilometers of lines and trails, downhill tracks, and numerous tours are accessible in Saalbach, Leogang, and Fieberbrunn with a single ticket.
For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, there are countless hikes, via ferratas, and mountain tours amidst the Alps. The Leogang Mountains and the rugged limestone giants form a beautiful backdrop for miles of well-maintained hiking trails that appeal to nature lovers, athletic peak baggers, and pleasure seekers alike.
